Satellite Beach is considered to be a barrier city since it lies on an island that is situated in front of the mainland. Points of interest include: Hightower Beach Park, Pelican Beach Clubhouse, Pelican Beach Park and Samsons Island. Easiest access to Satellite Beach is from the Pineda Causeway or the Eau Gallie Causeway, both leading to neighboring Melbourne.
Satellite Beach is very active in helping others as it maintains an active list of over 80 volunteers in the "Neighbor Helping Neighbor" program. This program helps senior citizens whose mobility is impaired.
