The land was developed by The Viera Company, a subsidiary of A. Duda and Sons. On August 4, 1989, ground was broken for the new town of Viera. Starting in 1990, The Duda family has owned the property along I-95 and began turning the Cocoa Ranch into a new town with a mix of land uses, including a variety of housing types, offices, medical and industrial parks, shopping centers and recreational facilities.
Viera was founded in 1912 from a small celery farm that grew into one of the world's largest and most respected family-owned agriculatural enterprises. Viera, from a Slovak word meaning "faith", is a planned community home to more than 19,000 residents and consisting of over 8000 homes.
Viera features a vibrant town center, wildlife habitats, golf, conservation areas, miles of natural trails and recreational parks. And with easy access to the ocean and river, Viera is a place people love to live.
