Melbourne Beach is Brevard County's oldest beach community. It is a barrier island that separates the Indian River Lagoon from the Atlantic Ocean. The city is predominately a residential community with lovely waterfront homes and good schools. Residents enjoy the great weather and many watersports. Birding enthusiasts will enjoy watching the black-bellied plovers, red knots, gannets, red-throated loons and many seabirds. Coconut Point Park is an active sea turtle nesting site.
